Briefing for Opposition Day Debate on Social Care (26.02.20)

The need for reform of our social care system is widely accepted, yet concrete action has been too often in short supply. Unpaid carers have been feeling the brunt of said crisis for far too long with devastating effects and urgent changes to the way we support and recognise the 6.5million carers in the UK are long overdue.

This debate provides an opportunity to make a strong case that unpaid carers need to be placed at the heart of a reformed system of social care that will be sustainable and better support carers and their families.
