Getting specialist support

Through our helpline, we often hear from people experiencing problems with social care. We have teamed up with Access Social Care to offer another option if you need information about social care in England.

Access Social Care is a charity that specialises in information and advice about social care issues.

The charity has introduced an online tool called AccessAva that helps you understand the law on social care in England. The tool can help you find out about the rights you have and the rights of anyone you're caring for. It can also provide template letters developed by expert lawyers.

About our services

While Carers UK does not offer legal support, we provide a wide range of detailed information and guidance to unpaid carers. This covers a range of subjects including:

  • benefits and financial support
  • your rights as a carer in the workplace
  • carers' assessments and how to get support in your caring role
  • services available to carers and the people you care for
  • how to complain effectively and challenge decisions.

If you feel you need help in these areas, it may be useful to start by visiting our Help and advice pages.

Alternatively, contact our Carers UK Helpline Service, where we can provide more tailored guidance by email.

We’re not always able to provide the same level of detailed information, based on your circumstances, over the phone, but we will aim to guide you to services and organisations that can offer specialist advice where needed.
