Carers Active April videos are for you

Carers Active April is a month dedicated to supporting carers to find and devote time to being active and looking after their own health and wellbeing. We all know that this is vital to stay resilient and strong when caring, which can be a demanding role.

Here are some videos from previous years which you can still enjoy and benefit from today!

Introduction to line dancing

Join Sandra Shaw as she takes you through a fun introduction to line dancing session. You will enjoy two beginner level line dancing routines to country and western music. They will be choreographed routines, repeating the same sequence. Line dancing helps to improve physical and mental health as well as promoting a general sense of wellbeing. No experience is needed and all abilities and fitness levels are welcome.

Stretch and tone session

Come and join Kelly Harman for a full body, stretch and tone workout from the comfort of your own home. This is a low impact workout that focuses on flexibility, stability, balance and strength. We may perform movements on the floor, so you may want to have an exercise mat or towel to be more comfortable. All movements can be adapted such as with seated options.

Step fitness session

Get your daily step count up, boost your endorphin levels, increase your stamina and strengthen your entire body in this total body conditioning session. This session is low impact but can be adapted in levels of intensity and is suitable for all levels including those chair based or who wish to exercise seated.

Subtitles are unfortunately unavailable for this video, apologies for the inconvenience.

Gentle exercises with Kelly Harman

Kelly Harman joins us for a gentle exercises session. This is a low impact session which will improve mobility, balance, cardio fitness and strength. We may perform movements on the floor, so you may want to have an exercise mat or towel to be more comfortable. All movements can be adapted such as with seated options.

Nordic Walk Fit

Penny from Ministry of Nordic Walks Community Group leads a fun walking, exercise class you can do at home to help improve your strength, balance and functional fitness as well as bring a smile along the way. This session is appropriate for all activity levels and it will be helpful to have a kitchen chair ready to use as a balance aid.

Seated boxing

Seated boxing is for all fitness levels. It mainly focuses on the upper body, with punches to an imaginary opponent such as jabs, hooks and uppercuts, all while seated. This session is led by motivating instructor Gil Cruz.

Dance Fitness

This session will get you moving to pop and disco, and boost your heart rate! The session is for all ages and abilities and no dance experience is required. Instructor Claire will provide different options for people with different levels of mobility so that everyone can enjoy getting active with dance.
