Our culture
Our vision is for a society that recognises, value’s and supports unpaid carers. 2025 marks our 60th anniversary and our theme, Equality: today and tomorrow recognises our culture. Employee wellbeing and diversity, inclusion, equality and equity are the forefront of our culture.
Working at Carers UK, you can expect to work in a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment, where work life balance is prioritised and flexible and hybrid working arrangements are on the table from day one. Currently, 36% of our employees work part time and/or flexible hours.
We strive to create a workplace where our colleagues and volunteers can truly be their authentic selves and feel that they belong. This is why we constantly seek to ensure that all voices are heard through annual EDI surveys and annual engagement surveys. 57% of our employees responded to our last engagement survey, and this told us that over 81% of our employees feel proud to work for Carers UK, and 73% recommended Carers UK as a great place to work.
You can read some our employee testimonials in the Recruitment Pack.
We are passionate about diversity and inclusion and offering equal opportunities. We positively and actively welcome applications from everyone. We strive for our staff group to reflect our stakeholders and the society that we serve. We continue to see progress in both attracting and recruiting a diverse workforce. 42% of our employees have caring responsibilities and 15% have said that they have a disability.
Our annual EDI survey also told us that 89% of employees feel that they can bring their whole selves to work. This is based on a 75% response rate.
Recognition is also an important part of our culture, and we live and breathe our values, which is why we have a colleague led values recognition scheme to recognise our colleagues' achievements and dedication.
We are proud to be an Employers for Carers and Carer Positive Member. We are level 3 Carer Confident Ambassador and have achieved the Disability Confident Employer Accreditation. We have signed the Menopause Pledge, and we are a Real Living Wage Employer.
