Me Time sessions for carers
Our Me Time sessions in Wales are a series of online activities to support your wellbeing. Activities range from practical advice on carers' rights and caring to emotional and physical wellbeing sessions like mindfulness and dance, to creative opportunities like crafting and cooking. Sessions are open for anyone across the UK.
Below you will find details of the sessions coming up beyond the next three months. To sign up, click the link and fill out a short registration form. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and supportive sessions!
Tuesday 3 October: 11-12pm: Fraud Prevention: South Wales Police
Thursday 5 October: 2-3.30pm: Email Safety, Online Scams and Keeping your Information Safe
Our email account is often a common way that people may experience scams online. Understanding the types of scams that people experience online and how to protect ourselves is the main form of prevention for Internet users. This session will:
• Overview what to expect when you first open your email inbox.
• Overview the different common email and text message scams and point out the warning signs to look out for.
• Discuss how to create secure passwords.
• Explain that you can use password managers and two-factor authentication to store your passwords securely.
• Explain how to identify a legitimate and secure website.
Monday 9 October: 2-3pm: Autumn Witchcraft Crafting session
Join us for a halloween theme craft session. Further details to be provided nearer the time.
Tuesday 10 October: 2-4 pm: Self-Advocacy and speaking for yourself
Self-advocacy is about being heard as well as speaking up for the person you care for. This workshop has been created especially for carers. It will take you through the Being Heard Guide which has been developed by Carers UK with Carers Wales to help anyone with caring responsibilities to gain confidence to:
• Understand your rights
• Communicate effectively with professionals
• Recognise your feelings
Caring can be rewarding but also very isolating. You may not know what help to ask for, how to ask, or indeed who to ask. Or you may want to be part of an empathetic group to learn new ways of approaching these stressful situations
Wednesday 11 October: 6.30-8pm: Painting Trees from drips art workshop
Memory, imagination and observation will be part of an engaging workshop designed to bring out your confidence and find a space to relax and focus on your own personal expression. Everyone will leave the workshop with more confidence in their individual creative endeavours, a sense of calm from the process of creating and a completed work to treasure.
Tackling Loneliness: Thursday 12 October: 2.30pm-4pm
Feeling lonely and isolated can make life challenging, especially during a crisis. It can be difficult to know how to help. This workshop aims to give you the opportunity to speak openly about how it might feel to be lonely or isolated and learn skills to help others who may be suffering.

Tuesday 17 October: 2pm-3.30pm - Getting the most out of your carers' needs assessment

Wednesday 18 October: 12-2pm - Become a Workplace Champion Event: Supporting unpaid carers in the workplace
Thursday 19 October: 2-3pm: Getting creative with nature
In this session Trish Matthews from Thrive will give some examples (and a demo or two!) of simple craft projects that you can do using everyday natural materials and how these can be used to increase our appreciation and enjoyment of the nature around us. As well as working for Thrive, Trish runs willow workshops and other natural craft activities. She also spent several years helping care for her parents who were living with dementia
